Drama and Theatre Studies

The course is structured in the following way : communication through speech, communication through body language, improvisation, preparation for theatre presentation and a theatre presentation.

Business Studies

If you are interested in a career in banking, insurance administration, retailing or marketing, Business Studies will give you an insight into these career areas and help you acquire a wide range of skills to cope successfully in the business world.

Child Development / Care

This very interesting and comprehensive course deals with a study of the family in the community and a detailed study of all aspects of child development from birth to seven years, and as such is an excellent qualification for anyone wanting to enter the caring professions e.g. social work, nursery nursing or teaching.

Dance

The course aims to promote and extend knowledge of dance as an aesthetic and artistic experience. Dance has proved to be a popular option with a highly successful examination pass rate.

Food Studies

The course is designed for those who enjoy the practical part of Food Technology. During the course the pupils will learn how to prepare a range of dishes suitable for family meals and also how to consider nutrition and cost in their choice. They will also learn about modern food technology and the appliances that aid food preparation.

Information Technology

Information Technology consists of four main IT skills - Communicating Information (word processing and DTP), Handling Information (the use of a database), Modelling (mathematical models using spread sheets) and Information Exchange.

Media Studies

If you are not sure what is meant by the term "media studies" then just think of the way in which television, film, radio and newspapers play in your day to day life. The course aims to encourage you to research and experiment with as many media activities as possible.

Textiles

Textiles form a fundamental part of our every day lives and this subject area covers a broad range of activities concerned with the visual and tactile qualities of textiles.

Typewriting / Text Processing

This course is designed to teach pupils touch typewriting and layout and design of business documents. Pupils learn to become proficient in the use of an electronic typewriter and will acquire knowledge and skills which will be applied to a computer as a word processor.
