A message from the Head teacher

We have introduced an initiative called "Positive Behaviour Management".
In a large secondary school such as Rumney High School, looking for ways to help pupils behave better in order to learn better is never off the agenda. We want Positive Behaviour Management to allow us to focus more clearly on good behaviour so that lessons can proceed with pace and purpose. We have rewritten our class rules (with the help of the pupils) so that the are much simpler and straightforward. I hope you agree. They will be displayed in every classroom, laboratory and workshop. They are :

+ ARRIVE ON TIME PREPARED TO LEARN
+ FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FIRST TIME
+ LISTEN TO THE PERSON WHO SHOULD BE TALKING
+ KEEP HANDS, FEET, OBJECTS AND UNKIND WORDS TO YOURSELF
+ TAKE CARE OF PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT

Following these rules should be easy, and we intend to let you know more regularly about good behaviour and progress. Please check your child's planner for merits and praise notes, You should also receive more letters from teachers to tell you what's going well. We want to make the atmosphere at school more positive so that all pupils are able to learn better.

Obviously an inability to follow these rules will be a cause for concern, so we look forward to your support in making this initiative a success. Please continue to work with us to promote good behaviour.

Lastly can I stress the importance of regular attendance at school - "Success starts by being in school", the need to wear the agreed uniform, and the importance of good behaviour in the local community.

I look forward to seeing you at school in the near future,
Yours sincerely,

D J Marshall

to the RHS art department

Dear Parents and Friends,

Can I, on behalf of the Governors and staff, welcome you to Rumney High School. The purpose of this web site is to provide information relating to procedures and practices which will be of use to parents in supporting their children, especially in
their first year.

May I particularly draw your attention to the school's vision statement which indicates our priorities and working values on page 2.

This web site mentions "partnership" several times. Your active partnership is vital in ensuring your son / daughter makes real progress during their stay in our school. We will indicate how we can work together to achieve success for your son / daughter.

You may wish to contact us from time to time - with a problem or perhaps praise for what we do. Please do not hesitate to make contact in the ways indicated on this web site.

We look forward to seeing you on the many occasions possible in the school year.

Yours sincerely,

David Bevan
